Introduction
201 Web Services is a web design and engineering studio based in Lagos, Nigeria. This policy covers the information we handle through this website and through the projects we take on.
We have tried to write it the way we would explain it in a meeting: plainly, without the padding. If anything here is unclear, ask us and we will give you a straight answer.
Information we collect
We only ask for what we need to reply properly and do the work well.
- Project briefs. When you send a brief through the quote form, we receive your name, email address, and anything else you choose to add — phone number, organisation, the service you are after, the investment level and timeline you have in mind, and your description of the project.
- Direct messages. If you email us, message us on WhatsApp, or call, we hold that conversation and whatever you share in it.
- Usage data. Our analytics record which pages are visited, how people arrive, and roughly where in the world they are. This is aggregate information about traffic, not a profile of you.
- Client project material. During a project we are usually given content, brand assets, and access credentials. We treat these as confidential and use them only to deliver the work.
We do not ask for payment card details on this website, and we have no account system, so there are no passwords to store.
How we use your information
We use what you send us to:
- Reply to your enquiry and prepare a proposal
- Carry out and manage a project you have engaged us for
- Keep in touch about work that is already underway
- Understand which parts of this site are useful and which are not
- Meet our legal and accounting obligations
We never sell your information. We do not trade it, rent it, or hand it to advertisers or data brokers. We do not add you to a marketing list because you asked us a question.
Cookies & analytics
This site is deliberately light. There are no advertising trackers, no social media pixels, and no cross-site profiling.
We use analytics to see how many people visit, which pages hold their attention, and where visitors come from. It tells us whether the site is doing its job. Any cookies set are used for that measurement, and nothing more.
Every browser lets you block or clear cookies, and most offer a do-not-track setting. Blocking them will not stop this site working.
Third-party services
A small number of external services are involved in running this site and our studio. Each has its own privacy policy, which governs what it does with data it holds.
- Netlify hosts this website and keeps standard server logs
- Google Fonts serves the typefaces used across the site
- Email and messaging providers carry our correspondence with you, including WhatsApp
- Analytics records the aggregate traffic described above
When a project requires a service we have not listed — a payment gateway, a CRM, a booking system — we will tell you before it is introduced.
Data security
This site is served over HTTPS, so anything you send through it is encrypted in transit. Credentials clients share with us are stored in a password manager rather than in email or notes, and access is limited to the people working on your project.
No system is beyond reach, and we will not claim otherwise. What we can say is that if a breach ever affected your information, we would tell you promptly and plainly rather than quietly.
Data retention
We keep information for as long as it is genuinely useful, and not indefinitely by default.
- Enquiries that do not turn into projects are removed after around twelve months
- Project records are kept for the life of the engagement and a reasonable period afterwards, in case you return
- Invoices and financial records are held as long as Nigerian tax law requires
- Analytics data is aggregate and is not tied back to you
Your rights
The information is yours. At any point you can ask us to:
- Tell you what we hold about you
- Correct anything that is wrong or out of date
- Delete it, where we are not required to keep it
- Send you a copy in a portable format
- Stop contacting you
Email us and we will action it. There is no form to fill in and no fee. We aim to respond within one business day and to complete the request within thirty days.

Updates to this policy
As the studio grows, this policy will occasionally need revising. When it changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it.
If a change materially affects how we handle information belonging to people we are already working with, we will tell those clients directly rather than relying on them to notice.
